| Do you do themes for your children's birthday parties? | | I just answered a discussion on what to serve at a child's birthday party and that got me to thinking about some of the parties that I have thrown for my girls. They are 2 years apart. My youngest was born in June and my twins were born in July. I have always had one big party right in the middle. It just works out better for eveyone. The family only has to worry about one party and I don't have to worry about trying to plan two parties really close together. I'm really into doing themes. This year, we are doing pirates. Last year we did a Hawaiian party. I think our most memerable party was our dalmation party. I think the kids were about 8 and 10 years old. I found some small white stuffed dogs at the dollar store and they drew their own spots on them. They also drew spots on some old white t-shirts. We made them each a set of dog ears out of white felt pieces and just stapled them together. They drew spots on those as well. Then we made them each a collar out of red ribbon and those gold medal stickers that you can get at any office supply store. I also found some small plastic dog dishes at the dollar store and those were the bowls that they ate from. We served the pudding... | |
| | Update On Dog Abuse Discussion | | I ended up talking to a lady who has a rescue in a town 20 miles away from where I am.I had driven by the house again twice today and the dog was still out.After talking with the woman,I went and talked to the guy.I told him that the lady would provide him with a dog house and straw if he could go pick it up.In visiting with him I discovered that his dog is pretty destructive.He chews up the plastic dog houses and chews his water containers.He seems to like it out in the cold too.I know it doesn't make it right the way the dog is being treated though.I told him that maybe the new house will last better or maybe the dog will use it if it has straw in it.I told him to also go get a heated bucket that he can plug in to an outside outlet or use an outdoor extension cord.He really seems to like his dog but the dog is too big and destructive to keep in the house.I will continue to watch the situation.
